After returning home from multiple combat tours in Iraq, Raven and her daughter became homeless. At a homeless shelter, a staff member told Raven about Volunteers of America Greater Los Angeles' Blue Butterfly Village, a townhouse community for formerly homeless female veterans and now Raven and her daughter have a home.

June Koegel, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Volunteers of America, describes her 30-plus year career with us. "I started working for the organization back in 1985, and I can't imagine working anywhere else. For me it's about giving back."

In his career as a social worker, Carl has worked with many clients. But Stella is special. She is like family. Carl, one of our employees and a facilitator in the Supported Independent Living Services program in our New Orleans office, has been helping and working with Stella who has intellectual disabilities for more than 26 years!
